SCAD Admissions

About the University

The Savannah College of Art andDesign, which is a non-profit institution, has established its campuses in Savannah and Atlanta, Georgia, as well as in Lacoste, France.

SCAD Admissions Acceptance Rate

SCAD has a moderately selective admissions process, as approximately 78% of applicants are accepted.

Typically, applicants to SCAD have an average SAT score of 1050 and an average ACT score of 1240. SCAD’s regular admissions applications operate on a rolling basis.

SCAD Admissions GPA Requirements

Although numerous colleges specify a minimum GPA requirement for admission, it typically represents the basic threshold to evade outright rejection of an application.

The GPA that truly matters is the one that will give you a realistic chance of being accepted, which is typically determined by the average GPA of current students at the institution.

At Savannah College of Art & Design, the average GPA of admitted students is 3.56, and they prefer applicants to have a mix of A's and B's with few C's.

If your GPA is lower than the average, taking challenging courses such as AP or IB programs can demonstrate your ability to handle college-level coursework and help improve your weighted GPA.

However, if you're a junior or senior, it may be difficult to significantly change your GPA before college applications are due.

In this case, achieving a higher score on the SAT or ACT may help compensate for a lower GPA and increase your competitiveness with other applicants who have higher GPAs.

SCAD Admissions SAT Requirements

Despite many colleges claiming to have no SAT score cutoff, there is often an implicit requirement based on the average score of admitted students. Savannah College of Art and Design is deemed competitive in terms of SAT scores, with an average composite SAT score of 1149 out of 1600.

For the New SAT, the 25th and 75th percentile scores at SCAD are 1080 and 1280, respectively. This means that a score of 1080 or below would be considered below average, while a score of 1280 or above would be above average for SCAD applicants.

SCAD Admissions ACT Requirements

Savannah College of Art and Design may not have a rigid ACT cutoff akin to the SAT, but if your score falls below a certain threshold, your application may be denied.

Typically, an ACT score of 24 is deemed acceptable at Savannah College of Art and Design, rendering it moderately competitive in terms of ACT scores.

The 25th percentile ACT score for the institution is 21, while the 75th percentile score is 27. If your ACT score is 21 or below, gaining admission will be challenging unless your application boasts other noteworthy attributes. Although Savannah College of Art and Design may not have a minimum ACT requirement, this is likely to be explicitly mentioned.
