About the University
In September 1883, the Department of Medicine and Surgery was established by the University of Colorado at the Boulder campus' Old Main building. The Department of Nursing was inaugurated in 1898.
As the larger population in Denver provided more practical experience, the university began teaching the last two years of classes in Denver by 1892.
CU Denver Admissions Acceptance Rate
Admissions at CU Denver are
somewhat selective, with an acceptance rate of 66%. Applicants typically need
to score between 1000 and 1210 on the SAT or between 21 and 27 on the ACT.

CU Denver Admissions GPA Requirements
While many colleges have minimum
GPA requirements, it is important to keep in mind that these are often just the
minimum necessary to submit an application without being rejected outright.
The more meaningful GPA criterion
is the one that gives you a legitimate chance of being admitted, which is
typically the average GPA of the school's current students.
At the University of Colorado
Denver, for example, the average GPA is 3.49, which means that you will need to
have a GPA around that level and be in the middle of your high school class.
It's important to have a mix of A and B grades, with relatively few Cs.
If your GPA is low, you can make
up for it by enrolling in challenging courses such as AP or IB programs, which
will demonstrate your ability to handle college-level coursework and raise your
weighted GPA.
However, it can be difficult to change your GPA in time for college applications if you are a junior or senior.
CU Denver Admissions SAT Requirements
If your GPA is at or below the
3.49 school average, you will need a better SAT or ACT score to increase your
chances of being admitted.
At the University of Colorado Denver, the
average composite SAT score is 1120 out of 1600, which puts the school in the
competitive range for SAT scores.
While the university may not
openly advertise a minimum SAT requirement, the typical SAT score at the institution
suggests that you should aim for a score that is at least at the 25th
percentile, which is 1020 for the new SAT.
However, to be a more competitive applicant, you should aim for a score at or above the 75th percentile, which is 1210 for the new SAT.

While the University of Colorado Denver may not have a strict cutoff for ACT scores, a very low score may lead to rejection of your application.
The average ACT score at the University of Colorado Denver is 24, making it moderately competitive for ACT scores.
For the 25th percentile of ACT scores, the score is 21, while for the 75th percentile, the score is 26.
If you apply with an ACT score of 21 or below, it may be more difficult to gain admission, even though the University of Colorado Denver does not specify a minimum ACT requirement.
However, if you have other noteworthy accomplishments in your application, it may still be possible to be admitted.
