to qualified candidates. This scholarship program provides comprehensive
financial support to students hailing from developing nations, ensuring they

About The Scholarship
The University of Tsukuba (PEP) Scholarships Program in Economic and Public Policy (PEPP), conducted in English, provides a Master of Arts (MA) degree in International Public Policy.
This program is designed to equip
participants with the necessary knowledge and abilities to develop, design,
analyze, and execute public policies.
Over the span of 24 months, the
Program in Economic and Public Policy (PEPP) endeavors to provide participants
with the expertise and capabilities essential for formulating and implementing
development policies.
Employing an interdisciplinary approach, our focus lies in international development, with particular attention given to the economic and social challenges faced by developing nations and former socialist countries.
Benefits of The University of Tsukuba Postgraduate Scholarship
Scholarship recipients selected
for the Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) of the
World Bank will receive the following advantages:
1. Round-trip airfare (economy
class) between their home country and Japan, along with a travel allowance of
US$ 500 for each one-way journey.
2. Complete coverage of tuition
fees and related expenses.
3. A monthly stipend to support
living expenses.
4. National health insurance
coverage.
5. Additional funding for program-related
expenditures, including Japanese language lessons, educational excursions,
internships, and more.
University of Tsukuba Postgraduate Scholarship Courses
- Economic Policy
Requirements for The University of Tsukuba Postgraduate Scholarship
To be eligible for the PEP scholarship offered by JJ/WBGSP, applicants must meet the following criteria:
1. Hold nationality of a World
Bank (WB) member country eligible to receive WB financing and not hold
nationality of any country ineligible for WB financing.
2. Possess a bachelor's degree or
its equivalent, and have completed 16 years of education (up to the
undergraduate level).
It is highly recommended to have
a strong background in economics and proficiency in associated quantitative
tools such as linear algebra, calculus, and basic statistics.
3. Not have received any
scholarship funding from Japanese government-funded sources for earning a
graduate degree or its equivalent.
4. Actively employed as a paid full-time
worker at the time of this Scholarship Application Deadline, except the
applicant is an origin of one of the countries listed in the WB's
"Harmonized List of Fragile Situations."
5. Possess a minimum of three (3)
years of recent full-time paid professional experience in development-related
work after obtaining a bachelor's degree or its equivalent by the Scholarship
Application Deadline.
If the applicant is from a
country listed in the WB's "Harmonized List of Fragile Situations" at
the time of the Scholarship Application Deadline, the professional experience
does not need to be full-time or paid.
6. Be below the age of forty-five
(45) at the Scholarship Application Deadline.
7. Not be an Executive Director, alternate Executive Director, staff member of the World Bank Group (including the World Bank, International Development Association, International Finance Corporation, Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency, and International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes), or a close relative of any aforementioned individuals.
